It was very scary. I felt extremely lost in the world, wasn't sure what the next step would be, or how to get out of the dark hole that I had been in for many years. Before treatment, I felt extremely hopeless. I did not think there was a future for me. I could not see a month ahead, a year ahead, anything. I was just kind of giving up at that point. Desert Recovery Centers was born out of an act of love, of kindness and of service. My partner is a childhood friend. We had a common friend who I saw on social media, but I picked up the phone and I gave him a call. The next night, we went to dinner. We built a performer. We put some numbers down, what we thought it could be, what we wanted it to be, and we began to take action. I remember leaving and just feeling very excited and hopeful. We recognize that there's a lot of gaps in the treatment space. As a clinical psychologist now for almost 15, 20 years. I saw over time, with my family and friends, things that I thought, Wow, I can't believe those programs aren't providing that treatment. And when we met with you that evening, I think it just clicked. I've known Jason for about 16 years. We were in active addiction together. We had a couple small businesses together that we never really had any success with, because we were in our addiction. Throughout that time, Jason and myself supported each other, even in our darkest moments. There was a point in 2013, where we both had got in trouble separately. I went to prison before him, he went after me the next eight years. Jason worked on himself. I worked on myself, where on separate parts of the country. We got released two weeks apart from each other. We had no idea that that was gonna happen. We got out. We both had found recovery, we met at a meeting. Not all treatment has developed the same. And what it really comes down to is how much client care an individual is actually getting and who is providing it. And so our clients are receiving between 27 to 30 hours of evidence based groups. They're not just groups where they're just sitting there, it's a lot of skill building, process oriented groups, and, of course, learning the evidence based skills, like CBT, DBT, mindfulness, relapse prevention, and our individual therapy, we provide a minimum of two to four sessions a week. There was just a huge gap in treatment for the industry. I mean, nationwide. Dr. Nguyen built this program on a foundation of actually having clinicians treat the ones that are suffering to try to get them to suffer less. Having professionals, treating our clients. It's a game changer for the clients and for our program. See, that's what we're most proud of. 27 to 30 hours of groups of that. Seven days a week. And we don't get complaints about it. No. And so even though clients share a structured schedule, their treatment is never the same. And so here, we're always taking into account their diagnosis, their risk level, and how our clients are responding to our clinical care. And it's very necessary for it to be a continual daily, if not hour to hour, where our clinical psychologists, or myself, are reassessing the treatment that they're receiving and what they need, their individual sessions need to be changed, the modality needs to be changed. And for us, it's the same program. It's never the same treatment. We developed bridgework therapy, right? At Desert Recovery Centers, we recognize that on top of the individual therapy and group sessions, bridgework therapy allows to bridge what they're learning in individual group, to day to day, in and out, practicing the skills that they're learning, kind of having, like, a coach walk them through, using the skills. And that we have found really solidifies recovery and growth. Yeah, just like a warm hug walking into this house. I'm extremely proud of myself. I feel like a whole different person, and this is only one step in my recovery, accomplishing this 30 days, making new connections, reaching out, asking for help, and processing my emotions is just something I never thought I could do, and I'm doing. You're not alone. I have been there. There are so many people that have been there, and, you know, this disease, whether it be mental illness or substance abuse, it does make you feel alone and singled out, but, you know, there is a lot of hope, and, you know, you just kind of have to take that first step in asking for help. We're gonna walk side by side. The first 30 days, an inpatient, we're gonna carry you. And then the next 90, we're gonna walk with you. So pick up that phone and call, as the recovery centers is waiting.

It was very scary. I felt extremely lost in the world, wasn't sure what the next step would be, or how to get out of the dark cold that I had been in for many years. And in that moment, I just told her, I don't know what to do. I need help. Desert Recovery Centers was born out of an act of love, of kindness, and of service. Love is an action word. Just, like, a warm hug walking into this house. You're not alone. I have been there. There are so many people that have been there, and this disease, whether it be mental illness or substance abuse, it does make you feel alone and singled out, but, you know, there is a lot of hope. We just kind of have to take that first step in asking for help. If you have 1% of willingness, that's all you need. That's all we need to start your journey of recovery, and then we will help you build on that. Because we're gonna walk side by side. The first 30 days, an inpatient we're gonna carry you, and then the next 90, we're gonna walk with you. So pick up that phone and call. Desert Recovery Centers is waiting.

Who We Are

Why a Smaller, Boutique Program Leads to Better Outcomes

Why Professionals Need Specialized Treatment

Our Mission

Built Around the People We Serve

Desert Recovery Centers was founded on a simple conviction: people struggling with mental health conditions and addiction deserve more than a bed and a checklist. They deserve clinical excellence delivered with genuine compassion, in an environment that supports healing at every level.

Too many treatment centers prioritize volume over outcomes. We chose a different path. By limiting each residential facility to just 10 beds, we ensure that every person who walks through our doors receives the individualized attention that drives real, lasting change.

Our founding team saw firsthand what works in behavioral health, and what doesn't. DRC was built to be the treatment center they wished existed: clinically rigorous, deeply personal, and relentlessly focused on outcomes.

Clinical Excellence, Personal Attention

Dual Diagnosis Specialization

Mental health and addiction rarely exist in isolation. Our clinical team treats both conditions simultaneously, because addressing only one leaves the other untreated and recovery incomplete.

10-Bed Residential Maximum Philosophy

We intentionally limit each residential facility to 10 beds. This ensures every client receives deeply personalized attention from licensed psychologists, a psychiatrist, and therapists, not assembly-line care.

Joint Commission Accredited

Desert Recovery Centers holds the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission, the nation's most rigorous standard for healthcare quality and patient safety. This accreditation reflects our commitment to clinical excellence at every level.

Evidence-Based Clinical Care

Every treatment plan is rooted in peer-reviewed research. CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-focused therapies, and Medication-Assisted Treatment are delivered by doctoral-level clinicians with specialized training.

Luxury Healing Environment

Recovery happens best when you feel safe. Our Arizona facilities feature private rooms, gourmet meals, pools, fitness centers, and mountain views, clinical treatment in a setting that supports whole-person healing.

Our Story

Why We Built DRC

Desert Recovery Centers grew from a recognition that the behavioral health industry needed a fundamentally different model. Our founders, clinicians and operators who spent years inside traditional treatment systems, saw patients cycling through programs that treated symptoms without addressing root causes, and discharged people before they were ready.

DRC was designed from the ground up to correct those failures. Small facility sizes ensure no one gets lost. Doctoral-level clinical leadership means treatment plans are informed by the latest research. A dual diagnosis model ensures that mental health and addiction are treated together, because they almost always occur together.

Today, DRC operates three luxury residential facilities across Arizona. Our approach hasn't changed: treat fewer people, treat them better, and give them every possible advantage in building a life worth living. Heal. Restore. Thrive.
